Where you go
Shown for the calving season (December to March). From July to October we base you in the northern Serengeti for the Mara River crossings instead, with a flight back to Arusha to save the long drive.

Day by day
- Day 1
Arusha to the highlands
An easy first day to the Ngorongoro highlands after your flight. Evening on the crater rim.
- Days 2–5
With the herds
Four full days wherever the migration is. In the calving season that means the short-grass plains around Ndutu, with lion and cheetah never far from the newborn calves. In the crossing season, the Mara River near Kogatende, where we wait at the crossing points.

Back to the highlands
A last morning drive with the herds, then back up to the highlands.

Ngorongoro Crater
Into the crater at dawn, then back to Arusha by evening.

Is the vehicle private?
Yes. Every Trailheads safari uses a private 4×4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof and your own driver-guide, for your party only. You never share with strangers.
What is the difference between mid-range and luxury?
The vehicle, guide and route are the same. Mid-range lodges and tented camps are comfortable, en-suite and full board. Luxury camps are smaller, closer to the wildlife and more personal, with better food and service. Where you stay explains both.
Are park fees included?
Yes. Every park, conservation area and crater fee on the itinerary is included in the price we quote.
