Where you stay
Two ways to sleep in the bush.
Every Trailheads safari has two prices, mid-range and luxury. The vehicle, the guide and the route are the same. Here is what changes.
Mid-range
Comfortable and good value
Established lodges and permanent tented camps, usually a short drive from the best game areas.
- En-suite rooms or tents with hot showers
- Full board: breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Pools at many lodges
- Larger properties, often 40–100 rooms
- Game drives in your own private vehicle
Luxury
Small, personal, closer to the animals
Small camps and lodges, many inside the parks or in private concessions, with more space and better food.
- Spacious tents or suites, some with plunge pools
- Full board with better food and house drinks at many camps
- Seasonal camps that follow the migration
- Small properties, often 8–20 tents
- Game drives in your own private vehicle
How we choose
We match every lodge to the park, the season and the people travelling: families near pools and with family rooms, couples in quieter camps, photographers close to the action.
Before you book, your itinerary names every lodge and camp, so you can look them up. You can mix the two levels too: a luxury camp in the Serengeti and mid-range lodges elsewhere is a popular way to spend where it matters most.
