- Getting there

Created in 2019 from the northern Selous Game Reserve, Nyerere is Tanzania’s largest national park. Its lakes and channels on the Rufiji River make it the place for boat safaris among hippo, crocodile and elephants coming down to drink, and it is one of Africa’s strongholds of the African wild dog.
Nyerere is usually reached by a short flight from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar, which makes it a good pairing with the beach.
