Stay

A giraffe browsing in the shade of a groundwater forest

Lake Manyara is small and green: a groundwater forest of fig and mahogany at the foot of the Rift Valley escarpment, then open shore along a shallow soda lake. Troops of baboon, blue monkeys and elephants move through the forest, and the park is known for lions that sometimes rest in trees.

Because it is compact, Manyara fits easily into a morning on the way back to Arusha at the end of a Northern Circuit safari.
